NewBo City Market is a nonprofit organization dedicated to launching small businesses and supporting their development. Our Shopkeepers are the heart of NewBo City Market. We foster a community of entrepreneurs, developing both their products and skills to launch and scale up new businesses throughout the region.
Our business incubator program helps entrepreneurs with pre-revenue start-up businesses navigate the challenges and celebrate the wins of small business ownership. Shopkeepers have access to our business development staff and educational events that help cultivate and curate business acumen to grow alongside their skill set. Our goal at the Market is to create a supportive environment, to help entrepreneurs succeed at their own pace, and to ultimately secure a permanent space within the community in a brick-and-mortar location.
With every successful graduate of the program comes the opportunity for a new business to open inside the Market. The Market’s dynamism is what keeps the community engaged as your customers, so we are constantly working with new entrepreneurs to join our business incubator. The Hatchery.
Oftentimes, diverse entrepreneurs face historic barriers, making it challenging to get started. Access to capital, education, quality childcare, and mentorship are addressed with our entrepreneurial development program, The Hatchery. This program helps individuals from historically underserved populations of our local community who want to start a food or retail business by reducing barriers to entry and giving them the tools with which to thrive within an entrepreneurial setting. Grants, in the form of rent discounts, are available for participants of this program who become Shopkeepers at NewBo City Market. There are three main components that will offer support to start-ups and help build stronger businesses:
