Each year NewBo City Market hosts CinéVino, a celebration of Iowa wine. At this event, wine lovers enjoy a screening of a wine-themed film and sip on numerous samplings from several local wineries.
Attendees also receive a decadent chocolate truffle, personal charcuterie board, and a stemless wine glass to take home.
This year's four featured local wineries will also be competing in a "People's Choice" competition for the best red and white wines.

Cedar Ridge Winery and Distillery
Cedar Ridge is a family-owned winery, distillery and event space nestled in the beautiful Swisher countryside.
In 2005, Jeff Quint, ninth-generation farmer and fermenter, followed his heart back to his distilling roots when he and his wife Laurie opened Cedar Ridge.
Cedar Ridge will be bringing Atlas as their white wine for tasting at CinéVino. This white blend of Brianna & Edelweiss grape varietals exhibits luscious tropical fruit flavors of papaya & mango with a clean balanced finish.
One of the winery's most popular red wines, Nine Sixty Five, will also be on the tasting menu. This wine is a blend of Petite Pearl, Marechal Foch, Frontenac, Marquette & Merlot grapes, each contributing a unique characteristic to the final blend. Aging for 10 months in American, French & Hungarian Oak barrels creates depth & complexity. With bright notes of black cherry, plum & violet.

Fireside Winery
Fireside Winery was born from Bill and Rona Wyant's desire to embrace the “life is too short” philosophy, a long-term passion for wine, an interest in diversifying the family farm business, and a wish to pass on the farm heritage to their children. They opened their doors in 2007 in Marengo.
Fireside will be bringing Blu as their white wine for tasting. In this wine, Geisenheim and LaCrosse grapes are infused together to create this signature Fireside favorite. The sweet scents of apple and citrus get your taste buds salivating before your first sip. A sweet Granny Smith apple with a twinge of citrus lingers on your palate, leading you in for another sip.
Crownfire, a red blend of estate Marquette, Frontenac, and Washington Cabernet Sauvignon, will be the winery's featured red. On the nose is black cherry while the palate dances with cedar and baking spices.

Glyn Mawr Winery
Mother and daughter, Brenda Broulik and Anna Wilson, opened the Glyn Mawr Winery tasting room just two years ago in Mount Vernon. They refer to their winery as "The Local", which is aimed to bring wine, customers, and local economy into a meeting space for fun and making memories.
Bringing St. Pepin as their featured white, an off-dry white wine with a floral aroma and light crisp finish and Estate Red, a well-balanced red crafted with sun-dried fruit flavors and a slight sweetness on the finish.

Brick Arch Winery
Brick Arch Winery was opened by Ilene Lande in West Branch in 2011. As a former biotech expert, her PhD in microbiology helps her navigate the science of winemaking.
Brick Arch's Honey Bee white wine will be featured at CinéVino. Reminiscent of German Riesling, this wine has a little sweetness combined with more floral and tropical notes. It is just right for enjoying on its own or with a selection of mild cheeses and fruit, but also would pair well with spicy Asian or seafood dishes.
Iowa Chambourcin will be the winery's featured red. Chambourcin is a hybrid grape developed for the Midwest but, due to changing climate, it no longer grows very well in Iowa. Brick Arch Winery has sourced grapes from Chalk Ridge Vineyard in Fort Madison for many years, but this wine represents the last harvest of Chambourcin from this vineyard before the vines finally gave up the struggle. It is richly fruity, with raspberry and cherry notes typical of Chambourcin, dry with moderate tannins and a long pleasant finish.
CinéVino 2021 sounds like an incredible celebration of Iowa’s finest wines—what a perfect blend of local flavor, film, and community vibes! 🍷 From Cedar Ridge’s tropical white blend Atlas to the beautifully crafted Iowa Chambourcin from Brick Arch Winery, every description makes me want to taste them all. And the addition of chocolate truffles, a personal charcuterie board, and a keepsake wine glass? Just brilliant!
