Three New Shopkeepers Join NewBo City Market This Summer. From homemade sourdough to South American street food, meet the Market’s newest culinary creators.
NewBo City Market continues to grow as a hub for local food and entrepreneurship with three exciting new Shopkeepers have joined our lineup this summer: Smiley’s Soup and Sandwiches, Nechus South American Food, and Bread and Buttered Bakery. Each brings something fresh, flavorful, and personal to the Market community—and we’re thrilled to welcome them.
Smiley’s Soup and Sandwiches

Smiley’s might already be a familiar name to Market regulars. Owner Nick Fitzgerald first started serving his crave-worthy soups and sandwiches out of a food truck during our Food Truck Tuesdays. Now, Smiley’s has found a permanent home inside the Market.
But Smiley’s is more than just a great lunch spot—it’s a heartfelt tribute. Nick named the business after his best friend, Dustin Smiley, and has built it on values of community, quality, and care. The menu features standouts like a Philly cheesesteak, steak & gouda, Cubano, and a selection of wraps and salads—all made with bold flavors and zero shortcuts. Smiley’s is a must-try addition to the NewBo lineup.

Nechus South American Food
Get ready for a taste of Venezuela and Colombia! Nechus is the newest spot at the Market offering traditional South American dishes like arepas, empanadas, cachapas, and patacón—all made with authentic recipes and love.
Owned by the talented trio of Bianca Valles, Juan Madrid, and Vanessa Valles, Nechus brings a tasty, authentic flavors to our culinary community. Whether you’re new to South American cuisine or it tastes like home, you’ll want to come hungry.

Bread and Buttered Bakery
Meet Nikki Lynn and Amber Lynn, the duo behind Bread and Buttered Bakery. As busy parents and passionate bakers, they’ve spent years perfecting their craft during guest vendor weekends at the Market—and now they’re bringing us their sourdough specialties as fulltime Shopkeepers!.
While sourdough is the heart of their menu, they also whip up cookies, cinnamon rolls, muffins, granola, and even homemade yogurt, using as many locally sourced ingredients as possible. Every item from Bread and Buttered is baked with care, tradition, and a whole lot of love.
All of these new Shopkeepers reflect the unique journeys of the entrepreneurs we’re proud to support. Before becoming full-time vendors, many had already engaged with the Market—whether through Guest Vending on weekends, popping up at events, or serving from food trucks during Food Truck Tuesdays. Smiley’s, Nechus, and Bread and Buttered are perfect examples of what NewBo City Market’s business incubator is all about: providing opportunity and space to grow. We’re thrilled to welcome them as part of our community and can’t wait to see what’s next.
