NewBo City Market has welcomed six more shops into its Business Incubator Program, for a total of nine new businesses opening in 2021 so far. This new round of shops will all be open by the end of June and feature a variety of services and products, from prepared foods and ice cream to IT and technical support.
Torch Kitchen
Opened: May 29
Description: “Torch Kitchen is a family operated restaurant based in Iowa with a unique and inclusive menu of bite sized crave cuisine including: sliders, fried dumplings, fries, and dipping sauces.”
The Hangry Lady
Opening date: June 3
Description: “Our mission is to create colorful, flavorful food with a healthy twist to satisfy the Hangry Lady in you! Cedar Rapids Native, Chef Allie Lanham aka The Hangry Lady. Providing you with charcuterie, meal prep, private chef/catering services, big or small.”
Luna Gelato and Ice Cream
Opened: June 3
Description: From the owners of Aroma Artisan Pizza, Luna Gelato and Ice Cream offers local and regional gelato and ice cream at NewBo City Market.
Grandma’s Root Cellar
Opened: June 3
Description: “If it goes in a jar, we probably make it. Our specialties are jams and fermented foods, such as cucumber pickles, hot sauce, kombucha, tepache, and kimchi, as well as baked goods. Our mission is to be connected with our food and cooking heritage. We are making things grandma would make, offering comfort foods, often with innovative new versions. We will build relationships with local farms, where possible, to continue the traditions grandma taught us.”
WeDream Technical Solutions
Opened: June 3
Description: “Whether you have some questions about the problems your computer is experiencing or you're looking for some online remote PC repair, our services are perfect for you.”
Prairie Soup Company
Opening: mid-June
Description: “Chow down on homemade fare that’s made in-house daily from The Prairie Soup Company. We take pride in offering made-from-scratch options that will make your taste buds sing. Everything on our menu is made fresh – including the six soups we serve daily. All of our meats are free from preservatives, MSG and antibiotics, and hand-trimmed.” This will be Prairie Soup Company’s second location.
